This clock was styled after a similar clock that I had purchased and had been sitting on my mantle for many years.
The base is solid oak with four 5/8" diameter "feet" made of 7/32" tall rounded oak plugs.
The central portion consists of a box with 7/16" thick solid oak for the sides, top, and bottom. The space is divided into two equally sized compartments by a 1/4" thick shelf. The back is 1/4" oak veneered plywood.
The door is 3/4" thick solid oak and is attached with two mortised brass hinges. The door is held closed with a rare earth magnet embedded in the edge of the box wall and a brass-plated steel screw inserted in the back of the door. This door is 1/4" thinner than the earlier clocks. As such, the compartment is 1/4" deeper.
The upper section contains multiple pieces of solid oak. The lowest (widest) part is 3/4" thick with a combination of edges, most noticeably a 1/2" cove on top. Above that is a 1" thick piece of oak with a 1" roundover. The top is adorned with a 1" tall, 1" diameter (at its widest) solid oak knob.
The 3" clock mechanism is Rocker #23995. It operates on a single 'AA' cell.
