Pursuing the Art of Fine Woodworking Since 2018
Purpose: This was made as a Christmas gift for a long-time friend.

This clock was styled after a similar clock that I had purchased and had been sitting on my mantle for many years.

The base is solid oak with four 5/8" diameter "feet" made of 7/32" tall rounded oak plugs.

The central portion consists of a box with 7/16" thick solid oak for the sides, top, and bottom. The space is divided into two equally sized compartments by a 1/4" thick shelf. The back is 1/4" oak veneered plywood.

The door is 1" thick solid oak and is attached with two mortised brass hinges. The door is held closed with a rare earth magnet embedded in the edge of the box wall and a brass-plated steel screw inserted in the back of the door.

The upper section contains multiple pieces of solid oak. The lowest (widest) part is 3/4" thick with a combination of edges, most noticeably a 1/2" cove on top. Above that is a 1" thick piece of oak with a 1" roundover. The top is adorned with a 1" tall, 1" diameter (at its widest) solid oak knob.

Unlike the reused mechanisms in my previous clocks, the mechanism for this one was purchased new. It is slightly bigger than the previous clocks at with an overall diameter of 4", a visible face of 3-1/2", and mounts in a 3-3/4" hole. The clock operates on a single 'AA' cell.
